A spin-off of the hit Disney Plus show WandaVision is in development at Marvel Studios, with Kathryn Hahn set to reprise her role of Agatha Harkness.

The show is being described as a dark comedy, with both Hahn and WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer set to return. The plot details are currently unknown.

Hahn made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe earlier this year as ‘nosy neighbour’ Agnes, who was later revealed to be Agatha, WandaVision’s antagonist. The character is a powerful witch, who has been using dark magic for centuries since the Salem Witch Trials.

Agatha proved to be no match for Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) however, who defeated her in a dramatic final battle in the last episode. As a punishment, Wanda trapped Agatha in her character as the nosy neighbour, leaving the future open for the character to return.

The news of a spin-off show comes as no surprise, as her role was met with critical acclaim. Hahn was nominated for multiple awards including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the Emmy Awards.

Perhaps her standout moment was the song ‘Agatha All Along’, where she was revealed to be the villain of the series in a catchy tune. The song, which went viral on social media, achieved a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.

Who’s been planning their own spin-off show? It’s been Agatha All Along!

This Agatha-centred project would be the first in Schaeffer’s new 3-year deal with Marvel Studios and 20th Television, where he is set to develop multiple projects for Disney Plus and other platforms.

Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has already teased the return of Kathryn Hahn in the role of Agatha, telling Rotten Tomatoes that we can expect to see her “someday soon”.

In June, Hahn also touched on the idea of her character returning in the future in an interview with Gold Derby: “If I were to ever come back, there are so many aspects of her that I think are fascinating.”

In the meantime, you can stream all episodes of WandaVision on Disney Plus now.
