Supermodel and businesswoman Tyra Banks has been announced as the new host and executive producer of Dancing with the Stars.

Tyra will be the first solo host in the show’s history, taking over from Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, who both revealed their departure from the show this week via Twitter.

The role adds to Tyra Banks’ illustrious career, spanning over three decades and across numerous areas including modelling, acting, presenting, and producing. After beginning her career as a supermodel, Tyra graced the covers of top magazines before becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel. She has previously hosted her own daytime talk show The Tyra Banks Show, as well as America’s Next Top Model and America’s Got Talent.

She teased: “It is going to be so next level.”

Filming of series 29 of the hit celebrity dance competition is expected to commence in autumn, with safety measures in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
