Netflix have released a full trailer for the upcoming season of their hit show, The Umbrella Academy. Now in its third season, the sci-fi show has been a great success for the streamer, with the last season breaking viewership records for the company.

The Umbrella Academy, based on the Dark Horse Comics of the same name, follows the fictional Hargreeves siblings, a group of seven individuals born on the same day, all possessing supernatural abilities. The first season saw the Hargreeves reunite in the wake of the death of their fictional father Reginald, days before an impending apocalypse, whilst the second season transported them to 1960s Texas, as they fought to make it back to the present day.

The new trailer suggests that the siblings were successful in their attempt to return to 2019, but it’s not the timeline that they know. This first full look introduces us to The Sparrow Academy, who we met at the end of Season 2, the heroes who have taken the Hargreeves’ place in this universe.

It’s full of all the things the show has become known for, including: intricately choreographed fight scenes, plenty of laughs and sibling rivalry, and a jukebox soundtrack. The trailer also features the first look at Viktor Hargreeves, in a role adapted since Elliot Page’s transition.

Alongside Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min, all return as the lead ensemble. Recurring characters Lila (Ritu Arya), Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), and Pogo (voiced by Adam Godley) all feature as well, though the latter is decidedly different from his last appearance.

The season is to be set at the ‘Hotel Oblivion’, which also happens to be the name of the third comic of the source material.

Netflix announced earlier this month that all episodes of the third season of The Umbrella Academy will stream from 22 June. The first two seasons are available to watch now.
