Charli XCX has dropped a remix of her hit track ‘Talk Talk’, adding to the buzz around Brat since its June release. The reimagined version of the song breathes new life into the critically acclaimed album, further cementing its impact on 2024.

Both prior to Brat’s release and shortly thereafter, fans of Charli have been teased with the idea of a remix album, with an array of remixes being released out of the blue, featuring the likes of Addison Rae, Billie Eilish, Lorde, Robyn, and Yung Lean.

The newest remix of ‘Talk Talk’ showcases Charli adding another exciting collaboration to her repertoire, this time teaming up with YouTuber-turned-pop sensation, Troye Sivan, and the pop powerhouse, Dua Lipa. Though Dua is a new, and perhaps surprising feature on the track, both Charli and Troye have a history of creating pop-filled hits together, including ‘1999’ and the follow-up ‘2099’. Given their long-standing creative relationship and friendship that has been showcased most recently by the pair’s Sweat tour, it’s no surprise that this drop has reinvigorated and excited fans of the duo, as well as hinted at the prominence of artists we can expect to see in future artistic partnerships.

Dua Lipa opens and closes the song, contributing lyrics in both French and Spanish, giving it a summery, Eurodance vibe. This contrasts with the timing of its release, which came shortly after a viral post declared the end of the ‘Brat summer’ phenomenon. The translated lyrics vividly capture the energy and excitement leading up to a wild night out, followed by the aftermath, with the French-spoken outro translating to: “I lost my phone, but you know what / It was worth it because it was an insane party”.

Troye’s flirty, fun, and again Euro-inspired lyrics further amplify the track’s theme of hedonism and exuberance: “Here’s the plan / I wanna fly you out to Amsterdam / I got a good hotel to [expletive] you in”… “Boy, come see me / We could pop our [expletive] to Charli / In the Med, your arms around me”. The remix’s upbeat, anthemic vibe perfectly captures the essence of summer romance. If this track is any indication of what to expect from the remix album, both long-time fans and newcomers to Charli’s music are in for a treat.

The long-awaited remix album, Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat, will be released on 11 October, before the singer embarks on her UK wide tour, commencing in Manchester on 27 November.
