Bath-based four-piece Gum Soul have recently unveiled an infectious and stomping new track ‘Sour’, the anthemic debut single from the band.

This is the type of accomplished songwriting to be expected from a band, years into their career, making the track even more impressive as their first release. Thunderous drums, urgent vocal melody and an instantly catchy, brooding guitar riff swirl around each other engulfing the track in a pulsating energy. A sinister and brooding breakdown proceeds the final soaring climax, displaying that this is a band that has clearly already perfected the art of using loud and quiet to maximum sonic effect. The ferocious wall of sound is complemented by excellent production, resulting in a huge live feel to the song that is crying out to be heard in huge venues.

Having played several well-received shows throughout the summer, including the main stage of this year’s Bath Festival, the band have been rewarded with a thoroughly deserved support slot on The Blinders upcoming UK run, and you can catch them at Thekla in Bristol on Sunday 11th November. With an additional warm-up gig announced at Moles in Bath on 18th October, Gum Soul are already beginning to carve out a ferocious live reputation for themselves.

The band are additionally aiming to head back into the studio soon, with plans for another eagerly awaited follow up single to come later in the year. The future is certainly looking increasingly exciting for Gum Soul, and they’ve already set the bar high with this fantastic first release.
