Track Review: On The Regular // Shamir

Vegas’ sassiest output Shamir is bold, bright and definitely knows how to work a crowd with his electro filled dance numbers. Bursting onto the scene with his debut album Ratchet, his music is a refreshing take on the pounding rhythms of house music to sit alongside his lighthearted R&B style vocals.

‘On The Regular’ is the one of the most popular tracks to have been lifted from his debut and, full of pounding rhythms, buzzing synths and the miscellaneous sounds of cowbells, it’s easy to see why. Witty lyricisms litter the track from the very beginning, from the feisty “Don’t try me I’m not a free sample” to the audacity of “Yes I’m the best fuck what you heard / Ain’t got no time for these ratchet ass goons”, Shamir is the undeniable king of sass.

Recently performing alongside the likes of Hinds and Fat White Family at Hackney’s Visions Festival, Shamir is definitely a stand out artist. His unique style, image and sound place him in a musical hotspot aside from any we’ve known before, and it’s buzzing.

‘On The Regular’ can be found on Shamir’s album ‘Ratchet’ which is available to download here.
