Riding the success of her supporting feature on Ed Sheeran’s latest tour, alongside currently headlining her own U.S. tour, singer-songwriter Maisie Peters continues to siren feminist power with her latest track ‘Not Another Rockstar’. Taking listeners on the journey of a short-lived relationship with a wannabe “rockstar” of a partner, Peters poignantly details the red flags which carefully masqueraded as rose-tinted glasses whilst dating.

“Hand me down jewels and your dirty blonde hair / I think “You’re so cool and different,” and then / The law pulls up and you won’t get in the car”.

The high energy tempo seamlessly fuses with quick-witted vocals which target the low morale and even lower respected “rockstar” of a partner that she has. Throughout the track, the punk-esque power of the lyrics is enriched with themes of self-worth, self-respect and self-love, explicitly juxtaposing the self-centred attitude of the “player”.

In the newly released music video, fans can see Peters confidently dancing on a theatre stage, singing the lyrics to the “rockstar” boyfriend who continues to infringe on her personal space. Channelling a playful yet fierce attitude, styled with a leading-lady green coat and red-bottomed knee-high boots, she captures the rock spirit of the track in the electric video.

Peters’ distinct storytelling abilities in her music reflect the new wave of emerging talent in pop music hitting the charts. ‘Not Another Rockstar’ is a prime example of Peters solidifying herself as a globally recognised artist, further teasing the excitement and anticipation for her upcoming album.
