Track Review: Medicine Dreams // Yonder

Reading-based duo Yonder dropped their debut single ‘Medicine Dreams’ earlier this month, and it’s a delightful nugget of indie-pop brilliance. The act consists of Alex Lisle (lead vocals/guitar/synth) and Dan Lisle (drums/bass/backing vocals). It’s a side project that stems from their current band, SAHARAS. SAHARAS’ sound contains a lot of pop sensibilities, so it will be interesting to see how Yonder builds on this.

An assured vocal delivery drives ‘Medicine Dreams’ forward, working well with the positive lyrics: “Get yourself on track / never looking back.” This shows that there is light at the end of a dark period, which many of us can relate to. The song is similar to Marsicans and Fickle Friends because the tropical guitars and the tight drumming will have you dancing in no time. The production works in the band’s favour because it’s polished, adding a layer of colour and flair.

‘Medicine Dreams’ is a strong debut offering, resonating with a lot of people. As a Spring release you can listen to it in the sunshine, making it the perfect morale booster. Yonder are clearly geared up for a bright year ahead.
