Track Review: Juicy Fruit // Bandito Rey

Liverpool’s Bandito Rey emit a grungy, dark sound with their latest single, ‘Juicy Fruit’. The four-piece say that their influences ‘range from Aphex Twin to Radiohead, Morrisey to Massive Attack’ and this is definitely echoed in this song, a compilation of indie, experimental and alt-rock.

Ioan Llewelyn’s alluring vocals have a certain attitude about them, yet gel perfectly with Davy Murphy’s guitar riffs, Dave Coply’s subtle bass lines and the rhythmic crashing of James Ward on drums. ‘Juicy Fruit’ is the band’s third single after ‘Laag‘, an intensemelodic song, and ‘Come On Baby’, which is a much lighter and brighter sound. It seems fitting that ‘Juicy Fruit’ is a midpoint between the two, and I highly recommended giving the band a listen.
