Track Review: Give Me Love // Izzy Bizu

Singer-songwriter Izzy Bizu has had quite the musical journey thus far, enjoying an organic rise ever since being found at an open mic night. Brought up on jazz greats, she’s now following in their footsteps swooning thousands at headline shows. Bizu has come in for high praise ever since her Coolbeanz EP dropped in 2013, latest release ‘Give Me Love’ vindicates that praise and in fact, deserves more.

Generally her tracks ooze feel-good, soulful vocal arrangements alongside summery rhythm and fast-paced kicks and grooves. Her latest continues the trend. Distinctly soul-pop, her new anthem is a true foot-stomper, one that controls your feet for you – who actually owns their own feet anyway?

Gorgeous retro keys happily coat her sassy, confident, vocal sugar. Pure ear-honey! Refreshingly modern soul with plenty of hip-shaking funk and quirky energy, the perfect mood-changing diet. Equally as fun to listen to as she is to watch live, Izzy Bizu has shown in new track ‘Give Me Love’ that she can deliver and compete in a crazily saturated market. Her honesty and quirky nature sets her miles apart from many pop peers immediately; add in her huge vocal range and musical versatility and there’s several reasons to suggest it’s a crime she hasn’t ‘blown up’ yet.

Putting this track in alongside previous hit single ‘Adam & Eve’ it’s clear to me the time has come to stop calling Izzy Bizu a ‘rising talent’ and crown her a full-fledged soul-pop diva.

Izzy Bizu supports Foxes on her UK Tour this month from October 22nd – 29th.
