Track Review: C’est La Vie // Stereophonics

With 8 studio albums, including 5 consecutive number 1’s, the Stereophonics are one of Britain’s most important bands. Since forming in 1992, they have been an integral part of shaping our musical landscape and identity. The Welsh band have stood the test of time with Kelly Jones’ unparalleled leather jackets, whisky vocals and signature sound of brash guitar arrangements.

‘C’est La Vie’ marks the latest single ahead of their upcoming album Keep The Village Alive. Back garden parties and summer getaways are on the horizon –  and this is the perfect addition to your summer playlist. A few listens over and you’ll know most of the lyrics, so even your most ‘anti-band’ mates might take a shine to this one.

‘C’est La Vie’ is a French phrase used to accept ‘that’s life’ in unpreventable life complexities. Life is the theme throughout the track. Lyrics like “Ferris Wheel” are analogies to explain the nature of life. Like a fairground ride, there are high points and low points. You can chose to enjoy the ride or cover your eyes. Either way you’re strapped in for the duration. The song tells you to  throw you hands in the air and make the most of the time you have.

The track possesses a summery freedom, it encourages indulgence, and it’s a soundtrack to letting go on a weekend. If guzzling mixed fruit Kopparburg through a beer bong in a festival campsite was put into song, this is the number. ‘C’est La Vie’ is your summer soundtrack.
