Having released ‘Do You Wanna Talk’ just a few months ago, Circa Waves are back at it again with a new single. Their fifth album is on the way, as can be told by the customary singles releases. It is fascinating to be able to track the development of a band’s artistry through the years; Young Chasers was their debut album in 2015 and it was a superb way of putting them on the map.
‘Carry You Home’ is the name of this latest track and the Liverpudlian band have played on the strings of their standout sound. At the same time though, the song is a continuation of their varying style, where no two songs are the same.
Alongside the song, Circa Waves have come out with a music video, as they did in September for their previous tune, which has already amassed 37k views in just six days. They feature in a range of locations, from inside a car on a rainy day to messing about in a shopping trolley like we’ve all done at one point or another in life.
There is a point in the song, about halfway through, where the rhythm changes completely; it isn’t out of place though and it allows the tune to slow down to a gentler vibe. A more mellow aurora ensues before the song then picks up again, with lead singer Kieran Shudall breaking into “Oh no/ But I, I would run for you/ Even if I broke in two/ Yeah, I, I would die for you.”
‘Carry You Home’ will surely be one of the headline songs on the 2023 album Never Going Under. The band are continuing to rise up the musical hierarchy with every release and that will be matched when it comes to performing. As well as a bigger and brighter tour, they have announced several small intimate shows to celebrate the release. This will see them frequent venues such as The Old Fire Station in Bournemouth and Totnes’ Barrel House.
As is often the case with Circa Waves, they have that pop edge in the form of the melodies whilst also fitting into the mold of an alternative group. The song of theirs that it is most comparable to is ‘Talking out Loud’ off of the aforementioned Young Chasers.
This is a song for all seasons, with the Summer energy powering through alongside a more calm and melancholy atmosphere. It is certainly a catchy tune that will fondly stick in your head, the same can be said for its’ shorter predecessor ‘Do You Wanna Talk’.
‘Carry You Home’ is now available to stream on all recognized platforms.
