Yellow Creatures are a four-piece band from Newcastle, consisting of: Jon Ward (bass), Martin Jacobs (drums), Paul Gardener (keyboard) and finally frontman Marc Bird (vocals & guitarist). They describe themselves as the “purveyors of futuristic, garage/psych and alt-pop” and this sound definitely prevails within their two previously released EPs and in their newest single ‘Calendar Man’.

‘Calendar Man’ is everything that Yellow Creatures have said they can offer. These’s a distinct alt-pop vibe within the production of this song, yet it leaves such an eery futuristic impression upon listeners. It has a Arcade Fire feel to it in the way the song plays out, and the lyrical content is a fine blend of metaphorical and literal wordplay. Be sure to check out Yellow Creatures’ previous EPs and keep an eye out for the official release of this song in September along with a b-side titled ‘The Box’.
