In anticipation of their long-awaited debut album Kids Off The Estate, due for release on 24 September, Sheffield’s indie rockers The Reytons have released new single ‘Antibiotics’. An anthemic tale of late nights and bad habits, the track tells “the story of a shit relationship where nobody wins,” says frontman Jonny Yerrell.

The Reytons came to prominence with a series of consistently well-reviewed releases, including their recent EP May Seriously Harm You and Others Around You which reached #2 in both the Independent and the Vinyl charts. Their legendary live shows have cemented their reputation as a force to be reckoned with, gaining them a fiercely loyal army of fans in the process, and it’s little surprise that almost all of gigs on their forthcoming autumn tour are already sold out.

‘Antibiotics’ blends smart social narrative with punchy instrumentals, staccato riffs punctuating the track throughout. The razor-sharp lyrics are insightful and cut straight to the point: “She wasn’t looking for love / He wasn’t searching for anything serious / Neither received the above / Stuck in the system of feeling delirious”.

The Reytons have undeniable similarities to Arctic Monkeys, and if you’re a fan of the latter band then you’ll certainly find much to enjoy here. As a taster of their forthcoming album, ‘Antibiotics’ hints of great things to come.
