Marsicans are an up and coming indie band from Leeds. They describe themselves as “upbeat indie meets dirty pop”. They’re part of a wave of indie bands with infectious guitar licks and feel-good vibes, with recent single ‘Absence’ an example of strong songwriting that could lead them onto bigger things.

The track itself is taken from The Absence EP and features a beautiful ambient backdrop, complimenting James’ sweet vocals. The track picks up pace with the dual guitars creating a big sound along with some beautiful Foals-esque harmonies. The guitar solo adds to the melancholic lyrics, which is a beautiful touch. This also demonstrates a tight chemistry along with an infectious chorus: “I’m head over heels for you/and that’s fine”.
With Marsicans already making waves through playing Glastonbury and embarking on a UK tour, you can expect to hear more from them in the future.
