1. Radio Ga Ga

‘Radio Ga Ga’ is a worldwide hit for rock-band Queen and was written by their drummer, Roger Taylor. The track, which was released in January 1984, illustrates television overtaking the popularity and admiration of radio. The track is undeniably brilliant with its upbeat, rock vibe and Freddie Mercury’s unique, powerful vocals.

‘Radio Ga Ga’ reveals just how excellent a frontman Freddie was, and he famously managed to get 72,000 people to sing and clap in unison to this track during the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium in July 1985, resulting it in becoming Queen’s most notable performance – despite Freddie suffering from laryngitis at the time!

The band’s ability to connect so personally with their audience is truly remarkable, and I’m sure many listeners find it impossible to hear to this track without joining in with the superbly catchy, stimulating chorus of “all we hear is radio ga ga / radio goo goo / radio ga ga!”
