6. Reflektor // Reflektor (2013)
With cunningly concealed feature vocals from David Bowie, the title track from 2013’s Reflektor is quintessential Arcade Fire. This seven minute, high tempo, track is the perfect opener for the remarkably experimental album that saw them seize their second UK number one and cement their place as Glastonbury headliners in 2014.
The cryptic opening lyrics “Trapped in a prison/in a prism of light” set the tone for the rest of the 75 minute long double LP. The drizzling of French within the song adds to the mysterious nature of the song (unless you speak very fluent French) and coupled together with the curious ‘k’ in Reflektor, this quirky band continue to play with the norm.
