Tiger Lady shares the untold story of the world’s most influential female animal tamer and will debut at next year’s VAULT Festival in London.

Presented by Dead Rabbits Theatre Company, the show will run from 25 to 30 January at The Vaults (Studio) in London. It explores the tale of Mabel Stark; one of the world’s first female tiger tamers and the only woman to enter the ring with seven tigers.

The production is a tale of tragedy and heartache, yet also love, bringing a 20th century story to life.

Tiger Lady will feature Natisha Williams-Samuels as Mabel Stark, as well as James Parker as Louis Roth, and Edward Breckenridge as Rajah the Tiger.

Abayomi Oniyide will play Art Rooney, while Antonio Victorio will play Al G Barnes, and Chloe Waddilove will play Maggie Speaks.

Formed in 2016, the Dead Rabbits Theatre Company creates simplistic productions of unheard stories for its audiences.

Company director, Kasia Zaremba-Byrne, said: “I search for stories that are of the real people.

“Often the stories are from the perspective of women, often forgotten, or viewed from the perspective of under-dogs, even though they showed immense courage and perseverance in difficult circumstances.

“[Tiger Lady] is a true story that is full of tiny details, and I had to navigate with the cast to find what story we wanted to tell.”

Tickets start from £17 and are available online.
