Throwback Thursday: What You Know // Two Door Cinema Club

Fans of Two Door Cinema Club will know they have recently released a new album, False Alarm. It’s a world away from ‘What You Know’, the fifth and final single from the Northern Irish band’s debut, Tourist History. It’s hard to believe that their first ever record came out in 2010!

This upbeat track has incited many a moshpit at TDCC gigs, but it’s also a fantastic tune to drum your fingers to on the steering wheel if you’re stuck in traffic, or fancy a bit of a boogie in the shower in the morning.

The song was written about touring according to singer/guitarist Alex Trimble. He said: “It’s about the lifestyle that we lead and the people that we left behind, through the fragility of our business that we’re in. It’s so fickle and you don’t know where you’re going to be in a few years time, but yet you’re giving up so much to be in this position.”

Trimble wanted this song to be the first single, but the band’s record label refused, saying it wasn’t good enough. It ended up being their biggest single from the album, so jokes on them I guess.
