Spanish Sahara // Foals
‘Spanish Sahara’ starts with slow, with muted chords and soft raspy vocals; it’s instantly relaxing. My preoccupations, be that stress, boredom or anxiousness, all float away, leaving me to focus on the task at hand – namely revision. As the song progresses, it continues to build, increasing in tempo with a multitude of instruments gradually introduced. The repetitive nature of the lyrics means that they are not distracting but instead wash over me as I concentrate. Generally my writing speed and focus increase as the song reaches its climax, meaning that I have both eased myself into my revision and allowed myself to focus solely on the mountain of work I inevitably have to do.
