4. Logan slaps Roman – “Argestes” (Season 2, Episode 6)

This scene confirms our suspicions about Logan’s physical abuse, shedding a disturbing light on the childhoods of the Roys. While a previous incident with Kendall’s son, Iverson, could be attributed to Logan’s illness, this moment leaves no doubt about his willingness to harm his children.

The most harrowing aspect is the suddenness of the slap. With minimal change in expression, Logan strikes Roman in a fit of rage, bellowing, “Don’t fuck with me!” The brutality of the blow physically moves Roman, creating a truly terrifying moment.

Kendall’s immediate instinct to protect Roman, when he has essentially been a robot all season, reveals that such situations were likely common in the Roys’ childhood. It demonstrates Kendall’s love for his brother and his innate drive to defend him, contrasting with the others who seek to appease Logan. Tom’s shaken appearance further underscores the dysfunctional and abusive dynamics within this family. Roman’s defensive reaction suggests he has developed defence mechanisms to shield himself from further abuse.

This shocking and hauntingly realistic scene solidifies Logan’s status as a terrible and abusive father.
