Honourable mentions
‘Tomlette Greggs’ – “DC” (Season 2, Episode 9)
One of the best lines ever to grace our screens emerged during a Senate hearing investigating cover-ups and sexual assault allegations within Waystar Royco’s cruises sector. Succession truly knows how to balance seriousness and comedy.
During Tom’s interrogation by Senator Gil Eavis, some absolute gems were dropped. Tom first claims ignorance about his own executive assistant , only acknowledging that he is aware “of him, and his face.” Then, Gil proceeds to read out the title of the 67 emails Tom sent Greg during a night when potentially incriminating documents were mysteriously shredded. The title of those emails? “You can’t make a Tomlette without breaking some Greggs.”
L to the OG – “Dundee” (Season 2, Episode 8)
This is my defining scene of Succession, the one I use to convince others to watch the show. Equal parts cringe-inducing and endearing, Kendall’s “L to the OG” rap is a joy to watch. The reactions from his siblings, with Roman pleading for him to stop while Shiv bursts into laughter and records the moment, add to the hilarity. Even cousin Greg tries to join in, despite not knowing the lyrics. What makes it even better is that the cast’s reactions are genuine, as they only knew that Kendall was going to perform a rap, with no knowledge of the contents of the rap.
Jeremy Strong delivers an incredibly catchy and impressive performance, showcasing Kendall’s complete submission to his father.
Special shout out to this incredible line:
“So don’t try to run your mouth at the king/Just pucker up bitch and go kiss the ring.“
