London-based up and coming solo artist eG gives the listener a powerful ballad in the shape of her debut single, ‘This Is My Life’. At first glance it comes off with a sense of a ‘Wrecking Ball’ vibe, the slow continuous beat that builds up the beginning of the song and the angle of the camera which brings you closer to the artist herself. The excellent powerful vocal range exhibited certainly shows she is an artist to watch out for, and ‘This Is My Life’ is certainly a great place to start.

Lyrically this is definitely quite a powerful song, and appears to actually mean something to eG, which is refreshing as the listener can sympathise with the lyrics and with the artist. The line: “Feel proud, I walked the line but now I dance” is a clever little play on a story of a clear growth in self-belief, words that could often resonate with listeners, as many people have certainly felt that rejuvenation in their lives before.

The powerful vocals and emotional range demonstrated by eG, along with her catchy chorus and hard-hitting lyrics make for a great debut track. It safe to say that eG should certainly “Feel Proud” of her debut single and she is certainly someone to watch out for this year, especially since she’s earned herself a slot at Glastonbury; a very exciting talent.
