Exhibiting an impressive range of both instrumental and vocal ability, Guildford-hailing indie-pop band Me and the Moon dropped the title single off their debut EP, ‘Run With Wolves’ recently. Driven by a relatively simple melody which gradually builds in strength following the first chorus, the sound is delicately swaying and peppered with tambourine, muffled drums and a jangling, three-chord guitar progression.
Powerfully emotive female vocals (from Tamara Grzegorzek) dominate the song primarily, while densely layered choral techniques are employed throughout the chorus, adding richness and depth to the sound. There is also a touch of the whimsical mystique to the track, a slight vintage-esque undercurrent which sets them apart from the many indie-rock outfits dominating today’s music scene.
The bridge exhibits an unpredictable, off-kilter sound, contributing a change in pace in the song. A powerful symphonic backbone is overlain by poignant, poetic lyrical touches, resulting in a mature-sounding, excellently produced track.
