Circa Waves, yet another indie-rock band to emerge from Liverpool’s ever-vibrant music scene, have been having a wonderfully busy year. From supporting cult heroes The Libertines at Alexandra Palace, releasing their acclaimed debut record Young Chasers at the end of March, having their own sold-out nationwide headline tour, to an invite to play Glastonbury’s John Peel Stage, the group have begun their ascent to the top of indie band worship with lightning speed. What better way to celebrate than by releasing a brand new single? A re-recorded version of album track ‘My Love’ has been premiered as Annie Mac’s latest Hottest Record In the World, with frontman and native Scouser Kieran Shudall appearing on the show.

Describing the track as one that is “more emotional than the last few singles”, ‘My Love’ is a heart-warming, affectionate tune Shudall penned about the internal struggles he met when faced with the decision to depart from his previous band: “And I’m, giving up/ my love, my love to something else…” It is a bass-heavy, lyrically tender track that features spiralling guitar harmonies and a pulsating drum intro, more gentle and mellow than singles ‘T-Shirt Weather’ and ‘Stuck In My Teeth’.

A rock four-piece hailing from Merseyside, full of charm and charisma, quickly building their own brand of cult adoration, feverishly taking Britain by storm… now where have we heard that before?
