Single Review: Let’s Dance // Madame So

Madame So has taken David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’ and turned it into a brooding, dramatic performance piece. Far removed from the original, the songwriting stands up, and hearing it in such a different context is an interesting spin on the iconic song. Featuring Madame So’s drawled vocals and a slow build up of guitars, towards the end the layers increase subtly and almost unnoticeably until it leaves just Madame So’s a cappella vocals to leave a final impact.

Although the cover was recorded before Bowie’s death, it’s a fitting ode to the late pop-star who impacted so heavily on modern music. It’s clear that his presence within the industry is still inspiring and influencing todays artists, and will continue to for many years to come.
