Queer arts and culture festival, SHOUT, have announced that their 2020 lineup will be entirely online and is set to feature more than 30 events.
SHOUT, who are based in Birmingham, are preparing to go digital with their festival this year due to the limits of COVID-19. The programme aims to encapsulate issues facing the LGBTQ+ community and explore issues of identity and culture.
The programme will feature performances from Barry Fitzgerald and Victor Esses, among others.
This will be their 11th festival after growing from a desire to increase representation of the community within Birmingham’s arts scene.
In regards to their new circumstances, festival manager Rico Johnson-Sinclair has said “festivals need to evolve to reflect current times as well attracting audiences who have previously felt excluded. Inclusive means everyone and we’re working towards that goal. This festival is very experimental and is our first venture into the unknown. For us and for the artists, this is a really exciting moment.”
