Sam Fender reveals he is dropping promoter SSD Concerts due to staff harassment allegations, following a number of artists on their roster.
Numerous claims were posted on employment website Glassdoor, including allegations that the company was ‘underpaying’ workers, using ‘offensive’ language, and making employees feel ‘uncomfortable’ at work. The company’s Instagram was later reported to be hacked after screenshots of the allegations were also posted online.
Sam took to Twitter to update his fans that his upcoming shows would no longer be promoted by SSD.
This move follows IDLES and Lanterns on the Lake after they both announced on social media that they will no longer be using the promoters for upcoming shows. The company was behind Sam Fender’s socially distanced concert at the Virgin Unity Arena last August, leading the new era of socially-distanced concerts.
SSD managing director Steve Davis later posted a statement on the company’s Instagram denying the allegations. He claimed they are “false and malicious” and that SSD does “not tolerate bullying, harassment or discrimination in any form”.
Steve Davis has since resigned from his managing director role at SSD concerts, but still remains its biggest shareholder.
They also announced they have “opened up a confidential email for anyone who would like to raise a complaint directly”, at HR@ssdconcerts.co.uk. The company are also reported to have asked an independent organisation to investigate claims against the company.
