Remedy Entertainment, the company behind the Alan Wake games and Control, has announced that they will be collaborating with Annapurna for Control 2

As well as both companies co-financing the development of Control 2, this partnership will involve expanding the Control and Alan Wake universes through potential film and TV adaptations.

Annapurna, a video game publisher that has published notable indie games like What Remains of Edith Finch and Journey, will not be involved in publishing Control 2, which will be self-published by Remedy. Annapurna is currently developing a Blade Runner game entitled Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth.

Mikael Kasurinen, Remedy’s Creative Director, and Juha Vainio, Executive Producer of the Control Franchise, had this to say about the partnership:

“We’re super excited to get Annapurna on board! Annapurna’s creative values align perfectly with ours, making them an inspiring partner for the journey ahead. We at Remedy have been working on Control 2 for a while already, it’s looking amazing, and we feel Annapurna is the perfect partner to work with as the game development is moving forward towards production and eventually across the finish line.”

Control is a 2019 action-adventure game that follows a secret U.S. government agency that deals with paranormal phenomena. It received critical acclaim and has sold over four million copies since its release. As early as June of 2021, announcements were made about new games in the Control universe being in development, while Control 2 was announced by Remedy in November 2022.
