Prime Video has dropped the first official trailer for its upcoming original series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart starring Alien actress Sigourney Weaver.

Based on the best-selling novel by Holly Ringland, the series will centre around Alice Hart (Alycia Debnam-Carey) who goes to live on her grandmother’s flower farm in the Australian outback after the tragic death of her parents. Sporting an Australian accent in the trailer, Weaver is set to play Alice’s enigmatic grandmother June who is harbouring a family secret. The show also stars Australian actresses Leah Purcell and Asher Keddie as workers on the farm.

Sharing producers with hit dramas Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers and Anatomy of a Scandal, the seven-part drama delves into a “courageous tale of female resilience.” In an official synopsis released by Prime Video, the series is expected to capture a complex yet stunning mystery in an equally beautiful setting: “Set against Australia’s breath-taking, natural landscape, and with native wildflowers and plants providing a way to express the inexpressible, this enthralling family drama spans decades.” You can watch the first trailer of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart below.

Ringland’s debut novel was published in 2018 and since became an international bestseller. The novel won The Australian Book Industry Award’s General Fiction Book of the Year in 2019, whilst filming began in October 2021 spanning New South Wales.

If the striking trailer is anything to go by, fans of the book are undoubtedly bound to fall in love with this powerful story all over again.

The first three episodes of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart debut on Prime Video on 4th August, with subsequent episodes to be released weekly.
