Spoiler warning: This article contains spoilers for The Boys season three.

Taking place over the first weekend of December, Brazil’s comic con CCXP saw the debut of a host of new trailers including the much anticipated trailer for The Boys fourth season.

In season three, the boys sought out a weapon to take down Homelander (Anthony Starr) and discovered Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), a hero previously thought to be dead who is now able to depower supes. Failing to take Homelander down, the series ended with Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) powerless and having faked her death, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) attempting to expose Vought’s nefarious activities to the public, and Homelander killing one of her supporters in broad daylight. Other plotlines involved secret-supe Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) being appointed as a vice presidential candidate and Homelander’s burgeoning relationship with his son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti).

The trailer hints at a continuation of these plotlines as we see Homelander fans clashing with Starlight fans alongside glimpses of Neuman’s political campaign. The trailer also teases new cast members Valorie Curry, Susan Heyward, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, with Heyword providing a chilling voiceover about political strategy. The video ends with Homelander covered in blood and smiling — a sinister shot that hints at a potentially explosive season.

Though an official release date has yet to be confirmed, fans have been invited to enjoy The Boys‘ spin-off show, Gen V, which introduced new plotlines which may or may not appear in the new season.

Confirmed via The Boys’ X account, the fourth season will take place following the events of Gen V. The spin off takes place at the in-world Goldolkin University which was revealed to harbour dark secrets. Gen V also saw a cameo from fan favourite Soldier Boy who was left imprisoned at the end of the third season of The Boys and has been speculated to return in some capacity. The season ended with the development of a deadly virus aimed to kill superheroes, a plotline which is hinted to continue into The Boys.

Gen V has been renewed for a second season and season four of The Boys is due to be released some time in 2024.
