Spyres

Spyres have had a quick rise to acclaim within the Glaswegian scene, and one which is truly deserved. The group have burst onto the scene with two absolutely cracking tracks: ‘Otherside’ and ‘Fake ID’. Both tracks are absolutely excellent and prime examples of what style the band are looking to bring. Fast-paced, fist-pumping indie rock which makes for perfect driving music. In a relatively short time they have been able to create the sound that works perfectly for them, and you can tell through their fantastic live performances that there is real chemistry amongst the band. Speaking about what 2021 has in store for them after their 2020 plans were derailed due to the pandemic, they said: “More music will definitely be coming soon but I think the biggest hope for 2021 is to get to play live again. It’s great releasing music but nothing beats hearing the songs we have released sung back to us at a live show”.

2021 will hopefully see Spyres continue on the momentum they have created, and if they can it could be their year.

Lucia & The Best Boys are a figurehead for the sound of modern-day Glasgow, as they boast some of the most powerful and electric music the city has seen in a long time. An extremely talented band full of unbridled energy, they have been stealing the show since their debut EP Best Boys in 2017. They demonstrate a unique blend of classic indie music, with 80s style Glam Rock – a sound that is both thrilling and captivating. The band have stated many times that they are here to show that Glasgow can once again be a powerhouse in the music scene, having praised the culture for the freedom and creativity it allows the bands to have.

When discussing how the pandemic affected them, they decided to look at the positives: “I think some creatives found lockdown a real treat for writing as there was nothing else to do, meaning no distractions. Some found it really difficult as they were not in the spaces they are used to being in for feeling inspired. I think I was halfway between both of those. Sometimes I have felt so on the ball and other times I really struggle to get anything out, but as time have got on and we get used to it. I have been writing much more and I’m very excited to develop it. And for the day that I get to share it with everyone”.

Lucia & The Best Boys are here to put Glasgow on the map, and through their powerful songs, they are certainly doing that. 2021 is just another step in the band journey to success and everyone cannot wait to see what they have in store.
