Undone // Cat Clarke

If I had to pick an author that truly inspired me to write it would Cat Clarke, an extraordinary writer who deserves so much more credit. Her third novel, Undone, only demonstrates her true writing talent which manages to make the cliche of situations real and emotional.

Although the initial concept is relatively cliche and full of cheese – our protagonist Jem is in love with her best friend Kai – it isn’t until Kai commits suicide that the plot line really begins to get moving. I found myself mentally screaming at Jem’s actions, yet despite her childishness in an attempt for revenge, I soon found myself rooting for Jem to find the truth.

The ending to this novel is a true masterpiece: never have I been awake at three am in a state of complete shock and outrage. Although I cannot bear to reread to the last page, this novel will forever be a favourite of mine.
