I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You // Ally Carter

My first glimpse into the land of Young Adult Fiction was in the form of Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women, an elite spy school for teenage girls. I can still remember walking into my school library as a small scared Year Seven and being immediately drawn to the display that held this novel. This would result in a love for a series that would last my whole secondary school career when the last book would be read weeks before my final day of Year 11.

If I could be any fictional character, the protagonist Cammie Morgan would be a definite first choice. There’s a reason why I’ve re-read this series more than five times: her voice is real and it feels like coming home. It’s easy to escape into Gallagher Academy and never return; Carter creates a world that is not only exciting but interesting enough to keep me rereading the series and desperately wishing for more.
