Harry Potter // J K Rowling
If I was writing these in chronological order then it would’ve gone between Diane Wynne Jones and Jojo Meyers, however Harry Potter has been reread so many times that I can know open any book on a random page and contently read from there onwards if I have a spare ten minutes. The entirety of the Harry Potter universe just amazes me. J K Rowling is literally amazing; the thought that goes behind every tiny detail, and you cannot fault her for not going into enough detail. I certainly can’t think of anybody who could create an entire game that it’s actually played in various universities (not on brooms of course), and I reckon a good percentage of the world know exactly what Quidditch is. The irony in “There will be books written about Harry, every child in our world will know his name.” is never lost on me. Needless to say that Harry Potter will always be my fall back book, it’s like the best friend you’ve had since primary school where you may not see/speak to them that often but you know they’re always there. I can assure you that my children will be reading them.
