The Body In The Library // Agatha Christie

My first proper book manifested itself in the form of ‘The Body in the Library’. The narrative consists of a woman being found strangled in the library of a wealthy Colonel and the infamous Jane Marple investigation into it. Although, on the outside, it seems like a fairly basic murder-mystery, Christie captures the plot and social values of the era so fluently through her sultry yet exacting observations. Christie piles the plot full of diverse and interesting characters all of whom have the motive to kill the victim and it was this tense style that first compelled me to carry on my deep love into the work of Christie; that and the fact that we all love a good murder, don’t we?
