Alongside Star Wars and The Godfather, Alien is one of the most groundbreaking films of all time, especially when it comes to sci-fi and horror. Alien the film, like it’s titular creature, can be described as a beautiful nightmare. With incredible effects and direction, Ridley Scott’s masterpiece is an opus on tense, uncomfortable filmmaking. Forcing you to watch, empathise and live in the horrifying events of Ripley our main character and the rest of the Nostromo crew.

With Alien: Covenant a prequel to Alien coming out this month, there’s no better way to get ready than to watch the original film that gave the world the most shockingly picturesque and psychology disturbing creature ever thought up by a human mind.

Alien is crisp, confident and darn right memorable. Turn off your lights, grab the popcorn and get ready to sweat all your bodily fluids out with this agonisingly tense sci-fi horror.
