Pitch Perfect 2
It has been three years since we first met the Barden Bellas. In a blend of acapella tunage, frequently quoted dialogue and the occasional gross-out, Pitch Perfect (2012) was a ginormous success across the globe, garnering an ever-increasing demand for a sequel. After being banned from competing in their national acapella championships because of an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction, the Bellas must try to find a way into the world championships, all the while competing against the notoriously talented German group, Das Sound Machine.
As Beca, Fat Amy (Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson) and the rest of the singing students attempt to navigate their final year at university, even incorporating a Snoop Dogg cameo, we are treated to yet more acapella mash-ups and witty one-liners. While not quite up to the same standard to its predecessor, what with the tired repetition of some of its original gags, the film is still full of girl power and proves to be a laugh-a-minute comedy that will have you singing along before you’ve even realised.
