Middle Child Theatre Company have launched their new creative programme called Recover, Restart and Reimagine.
This programme offers 13 Hull theatre workers a refresher course in theatrical creativity after a year of closures. Those involved will be able to attend a variety of masterclasses and workshops meant to inspire and challenge.
Each week has different themes. The first week emphasises the importance of self-care, reflection and recovery. The second week focuses on restarting: participants will have opportunities to learn new skills as well as refreshing old ones. The third week will be about reimagining allowing individuals to think about future aspirations. It also involves making those crucial first steps to pave the way for a prosperous future.
Participants have been specially chosen by a selection panel of freelancers, after applying last month. Each of them will receive a fee of £1,500, inclusive of expenses.
Artistic Director Paul Smith discussed the encouraging impact of this new artistic development programme: “Everyone at Middle Child is determined to contribute to a sustainable re-emergence and reimagining of our industry following the impact of the pandemic.
“It’s designed to rebuild confidence, develop skills and take stock, in a safe space which acknowledges what we’ve been through and the impact it has had on our work and our practices.”
The programme will last from Tuesday 15 June until Friday 2 July 2021.
