Lobster Frock, in collaboration with The Albany and Age UK Lewisham-Southwark, have worked with members of the community aged 65 and older to produce Blueprints Museum, a devised interactive experience about motherhood.

Lobster Frock’s new fictional museum adventure explores themes of ageing, isolation and loneliness through surrealist design and immersive theatre. Based on real-life experiences of South London women, it’s a local story of hope and courage and a tribute to mothers.

Director Grace O’Keefe, Lobster Frock’s artistic director and actresses Kirsty Blewett and Rosy Fordham have worked with the community members to devise Blueprints Museum in the spaces at MOCA London in Peckham. Designers were Emma Lynch and Natalie Johnson with video pieces edited by Mathew Kaltenborn.

Lobster Frock is a surrealist, feminist theatre company who give a voice to everyday female stories and specialise in improvisation and play.

The project has been produced in partnership with Meet Me at The Albany, which offered a weekly opportunity for isolated older people to attend an arts centre instead of a day centre and work alongside artists at The Albany to “discover the artists within themselves”, alongside Age UK Lewisham-Southwark.

Blueprints Museum runs from Wednesday 15 until Saturday 18 March 2023 at MOCA London. All tickets are free, with time slots at ten-minute intervals from 6-7.30pm.

Further information about the immersive performance and exhibition can be found on MOCA’s website.
