Last Tuesday, Lucy Rose brought her 18 date UK tour to Brighton and made the big claim that it was her favourite and biggest show yet.  The show was opened by The Half Earth, who consisted of Connor, his guitar and his keyboard player Ben who was referred to throughout as Hashtag Ben.  The Half Earth seemed to capture the crowd with his haunting vocals and shy but endearing stage persona.  A highlight was ‘Glass’, the whole performance was intimate and a real showcase of his talent.

Lucy Rose then appeared, sporting her typical casual attire of trainers and jeans, with a The Half Earth t shirt, reiterating her support. She went straight into the opening song ‘Koln’, along to much cheer from the crowd. ‘Lines’, her second song had everyone singing, the middle aged man at the front with his hands in the air singing passionately to every line catching the amusement of Rose. ‘Wow’ was the first word spoken by her on the night, going on to say how this was the biggest show she had done yet.

Although she kept it modern with her more upbeat and heavier songs such as ‘Our Eyes’ and ‘Cover Up’, Rose still played the older, more virtuous ones; ‘Middle Of The Bed’, ‘Shiver’, claiming a lot of her song choices of the night were picked by her mentions on twitter when she asked what she should play.

Throughout the gig you could tell she had enraptured the crowd, couples were swaying along to the love songs, and teenage girls who idolise the singer were jumping around at the front. ‘Red Face’ closed the show with many ‘thank you’s’ and politeness from Lucy Rose, concluding an enjoyable gig.
