Arabella // Arctic Monkeys

Ahh, Arctic Monkeys. I’ve always been a fan of their beautifully rough, energetic melodies and their bright, clever lyrics with traces of Alex’s Turner’s loveable Yorkshire accent.

When AM was released in 2013, I fell in love with the band all over again. This was due to the delicious, hard-rock vibe of the album, and the brilliant, distinctive guitar riffs scattered throughout the tracks and then, of course, there’s Alex Turner’s voice – need I say more? The style was very different to anything from Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not or Favourite Worst Nightmare or Suck It and See, but I was (and still am) infatuated by it.

AM is one of my most listened to albums. Each song, I feel, is captivating in its own way, however, my favourite track has to be ‘Arabella’ due to the sheer quality and inventiveness of it, both lyrically and musically.

I’m sure that Arctic Monkeys will always be one of my favourite bands due to both their older tracks, which feel so familiar to me with their relatable, typically English connotations and lively, infectious tunes and their first-rate newer material.
