In My Head // Queens of the Stone Age

Flash-forward now to age 18 and my second year of Sixth-form College, a time dominated by exams and the impending stress of University applications.  The saving grace of that time was really discovering the lyrical and instrumental power of Queens of the Stone Age. This song really hit home when I was sent it during the beginning period of a relationship in mid-2013. The lyrics started to have real meaning to me, how they related precisely to how I felt at that time.

I have fond memories of listening to this song and a smile always seems to creep out when I hear those first few hammering chords. It remains one of my favourite songs, a reminder of a time when there were all sorts of possibilities and opportunities in my life. The band still remain the anthem to that time in my life, when all things were possible and there was no certainty as to where I’d end up or what I could achieve. It is the anthem of the happiest point in my life so far, and I’m grateful for being introduced to them.
