My Life in Games: Elliott Jones

I’ve always been a gamer, ever since I picked up the controller on my Dad’s PS1. I played the classics, FIFA 99, Croc, Ape Escape, Crash Bandicoot, etc… It wasn’t until I got my PS2 that I developed my real passion and love for gaming. I’ve always been more of a Playstation guy, although I did have a year long Xbox phase (mainly for Halo). Anyway, here is my life in games.

Ratchet & Clank (2002)- Playstation 2

For me, this was the real start of my life in proper gaming, and not just FIFA. I first played it at a friends house and I literally fell in love with it, so much so that I’ve bought every single one of the series to date. I loved the idea that this weird, cat-looking creature who was a ‘Lombax’ by the name of Ratchet could run around with a super intelligent little robot called Clank on his back who doubled as a helicopter and a jetpack, all whilst killing enemies with a wrench and a crazy assortment of weapons including the R.Y.N.O (Rip Ya A New One was what it stood for).

The levels were incredibly fun, the villains hilarious and it was just everything that ignited my love for gaming. To this day, despite it still being aimed at audiences consisting of 7 year olds, it’s still my favourite game ever. They’ve even made the game into a film which is brilliant.
