This week, have a look at the books that take the top 5 places on the list of Heather’s favourites.
Harry Potter // J.K. Rowling
Reading has never been a chore for me, and fiction always has, and will continue to, dominate a prominent part of my life; this, I believe, stems from my childhood love of J.K. Rowling’s mystical and riveting magical universe in Harry Potter. From an eight year old who was dying to explore the spellbinding (pun so incredibly intended) halls of a place that felt more like home than my house, to a thirteen year old who spent hours transfixed to her phone screen reading Sirius Black fanfiction, to a seventeen year old who could probably write a dissertation on the characterisation of Severus Snape and whether both his portrayal and reception are accurate and justified, I have grown with Harry Potter and Harry Potter has grown with me. It has been a permanent fixture in my life for as long as I can remember and every time I return to the series I feel shrouded in the comfort and familiarity it provides.
As J.K. Rowling herself says, “Hogwarts will always be here to welcome you home.” Always.
