The 11th annual Let’s Dance International Frontiers (LDIF) festival has announced a new programme for 2021 featuring a mixture of outdoor, indoor and online performances.
The annual international dance festival, based in Leicester and produced by Serendipity UK, showcases diversity in dance performance from around the world. This year’s programme includes over ten days of outdoor and indoor performances, online dance masterclasses, and discussion panels featuring various artists.
Running from 29 April to 8 May, organisers have made clear that the programme may be subject to change in response to amended COVID-19 guidelines.
Following last year’s LDIF, Pawlet Brookes, Artistic Director and Chief Executive, said “if the events of the last year have taught us anything, it is that we live in an ever-fluctuating world where we have to be creative and responsive. With this in mind we are delighted to present a multifaceted programme of international dance that explores the theme ‘Creating Socially Engaged Art: Can Dance Change the World?’
“We are committed to supporting and showcasing artists through the establishment of the Black British Dance Platform and nurturing continuing professional development through our LDIF+ masterclass.”
Some of the highlights of this year include an outdoor performance titled Born to Protest by the dance company Just Us Dance, inspired by the experiences of Black men through hip-hop dance. The festival will be also featuring the Black British Dance Platform: In Conversation, as part of this year’s panel discussions.
More information about the full programme and booking tickets can be found at the Serendipity website.
