Last Five Years

After two hit runs at the Southwark Playhouse last year, Aria Entertainment’s actor-musician revival of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years is being transferred to the West End this autumn.

The production will play at The Vaudeville Theatre for a strictly limited four week run. Previews begin from 17 September & the official opening is on 23 September. The run will end on 13 October.

Oli Higginson (Bridgerton) and Molly Lynch (Sunset Boulevard) return in their roles as Jamie and Cathy respectively, the young couple whose relationship breakdown is at the centre of the story. Jamie tells his version of events in chronological order from beginning to end, whilst Cathy tells hers in reverse. The pair only cross paths once for a wedding duet.

This is the first time that the musical has had a significant run in the West End.

Discussing the new run, director Jonathan O’Boyle said “I’m delighted that our production of The Last Five Years is transferring into the West End later this year. Seeing the production grow and the brilliant actors go from strength to strength was a total joy during 2020. The fact that we now get to share it with a wider audience this autumn is tremendously exciting.”

Alongside Boyle, the creative team includes choreographer Sam Spencer-Lane, set & costume designer Lee Newby, and lighting designer Jamie Platt. Sound designer Adam Fisher and musical director Leo Munby are also involved, while casting comes courtesy of Jane Dietch.

Tickets are available for The Last Five Years here.
