Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parris have joined Star Wars actor John Boyega in the cast for an upcoming Netflix sci-fi caper.
It was reported last week that the two actors were set to star in They Cloned Tyrone. It will be the directorial debut of Creed 2 writer Juel Taylor.
The film is described as a pulpy sci-fi mystery caper in which an unlikely trio (Boyega, Foxx and Parris) investigates a series of eerie events, alerting them to a nefarious conspiracy lurking directly beneath their hood. Boyega is starring as the film’s lead.
Juel Taylor co-wrote the script alongside Tony Rettenmaier and the executive producers are Macro’s Mark R. Wright and Jack Murray. Foxx also joins as a producer of the film alongside Datari Turner, CEO Charles D. King, Stephen “Dr.” Love, Taylor, Rettenmaier and Kim Roth.
John Boyega is definitely not new to the sci-fi genre. His breakout film was Attack the Block, and since then, he has appeared in the Pacific Rim sequel and the Star Wars franchise.
Earlier this month, Boyega criticised the treatment of his character Finn in the Star Wars sequels. The actor told GQ, “what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up.”
Jamie Foxx has appeared in a couple of sci-fi films including Netflix’s Project Power this summer and the Amazing Spiderman sequel. He will appear in Pixar’s next animated film, Soul.

For Teyonah Parris, this will be the first sci-fi film that she has starred in. She is starring in the Marvel series WandaVision for Disney+ as Monica Rambeau and alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in Candyman, directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Oscar winner Jordan Peele.
