After a lot of anticipation, Marvel has revealed both the villain and her actor for the upcoming series She-Hulk. After Kevin Feige, CEO of Marvel Studios, announced all the upcoming titles of the next few years, fans have been keen on finding out how the show will play out and who is to be cast.

Many fans have been patiently waiting, but now the villain has been revealed to be no other than Marvel Comics’ Titania. This superhumanly strong character appeared frequently in She-Hulk comic books and the role is to be filled by Jameela Jamil.

Activist By Day, Villain By Night

Brtish actress Jamil has come a long way since her days of presenting T4. She rose to fame through her work as a presenter on British TV throughout the 2000s. Taking her talent across the pond, she went on to become the iconic Tahani Al-Jamil in NBC’s The Good Place. During The Good Place, Jamil grew a large fan base for her activist work against body shaming and sexism.

Jamil seems the perfect candidate for this role due to Titania representing strength and might. It’s no secret she stands for women’s rights and does so with incredible strength. Throughout her career, she has launched and led many initiatives that support the fight against issues such as body-shaming, ableism, and sexism.

Jamil went on to become one of BBC’s 100 Women of 2018 due to her work against shame against weight in celebrity culture. It is exciting to see someone of Jamil’s calibre and social standing being cast in what is likely to be a massively mainstream TV show.

Move Over Wandavision

Marvel has also cast Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany as the lead, playing Bruce Banner’s (Mark Ruffalo) cousin Jennifer Walters. The story follows her transformation into the She-Hulk following a blood transfusion from Bruce. She-Hulk is described as a ‘legal comedy’ that will stay true and faithful to the original feel of the She-Hulk comic books.

After a hilarious and entertaining run on The Good Place, it is clear that Jameela Jamil will not disappoint in the comedy aspect of the show. This, mixed with Jamil’s underlying social values and talent, She-Hulk is looking to be a trailblazing addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
