Name: Run With the Hunt

Hometown: Aylesbury

Listen to: Chasing Our Tails, Out Through The Trapdoor

Borrowing here and there from the last twenty, twenty five years of indie music, Aylesbury based four-piece Run With The Hunt is a deliberately eclectic setup, their demos touching on grunge, indie rock, garage rock and post punk, all under the vague label of ‘alternative rock’.

And whilst the band currently only exists as a series of early, unfinished versions on their Soundcloud page, they’ve already begun to tap into the sound that gave the independent music scene of the early Noughties its dry suaveness; comparisons to Arctic Monkeys and The Coral don’t feel too far off the mark, although some of the grittier, bass-heavy numbers (see: Out Through The Trapdoor) manage to go as far as to revive the gothic pose of Nick Cave and friends, whilst the blend of funk and raw, trembling guitars in ‘Chasing Our Tails’ serves as a sort of Red Hot Chili Peppers do Royal Blood.

Four demos may not be enough to say that Run With The Hunt have settled on a particular direction, but the versatility and dexterity demonstrated by all four members suggests that the band do, at the very least, have a likely future with music. A talented group with verve and enthusiasm and strong songwriting ability, Run With The Hunt is surely one of the most promising new bands to emerge from 2015.
